Brunches

Beginning in November and continuing through March, SOS holds a brunch on the second Sunday of the month, usually in Annapolis area restaurants.
Members and guests gather during these "non-sailing" months, to socialize, enjoy a brunch buffet, and attend a presentation on various sailing-related topics.

Sample entertainers, speakers, and topics have included: a performance by "Them Eastport Oyster Boys," bards of Eastport; Gary Jobson and Tucker Thompson, local yachting legends, TV sportscasters, thrilled us with racing excitement from recent America Cup challenge races; Captain Elizabeth Christman, Chesapeake Bay Pilot; the national Maritime Heritage Foundation, speaking about plans for the Washington, DC waterfront and the tall ship Enterprise.
Brunches have included: Rick Carrion, founder of the Classic Yacht Restoration Guild; Caryl Weiss, local singer of salty songs; Ian Plant and Tom Horton, renowned photographer and writer of nature scenes including the Chesapeake Bay; Don Shomette, PhD, Pirate History of the Chesapeake Bay!
