Skippers' Advisory Committee
 |
The Skippers' Advisory Committee exists to serve as a sounding board for skippers, actively seeking skippers' input on issues of their concern. The committee interacts with other committees on the skippers' behalf and represents the skippers' interests to the Board of Directors. Careful watch over Club activities is maintained to protect skippers from unnecessary liability or vulnerability to harm. Support is provided also for activities that enhance skipper participation and enjoyment. |
Among the tasks of the committee is to schedule meetings of the skippers at regular intervals and to maintain a record of those meetings. The committee manages the Raft Captain Program, ensuring an adequate number of raft captains and even distribution of cruises among the raft captains.
The committee also oversees the Skipper Mentoring Program to facilitate skippers new to the ranks of SOS skippers with the details of the cruising program and the minimum required boat equipment. The committee recruits a volunteer to manage the Boat Helper Days and helps with the facilitation of this activity, a program that provides skippers with volunteer member helpers who aid in getting their boats ready for the sailing season.
