The Cruising Committee is the core of the SOS organization. The Cruising Chair works with the Skipper's Advisory Committee and develop a cruising schedule that samples the many fine Chesapeake Bay destinations. The Committee and the volunteers associated with the program are responsible for the approximately 20 weekend sails and the approximately 30 days of day sail activities.
The chair works with area coordinators and individual cruise coordinators to get members on boats and skippers with crew and all out sailing. The individual coordinators meet approximately 10 days before the cruise to match Skippers and crew. The coordinators handle all of the many telephone and email communications necessary to make the cruise happen.
It is the Cruising Chair's responsibility to maintain a budget that balances their income and expenses as well as supporting the Safety, First Mates and Skipper's Advisory committees.
