During sailing season, several parties are held at yacht clubs or marinas on the Chesapeake Bay. Members elect to sail in and enjoy the facilities of the club or marina, or they may choose to arrive by car. The major sailing season parties include:

St. Patty’s Sails into Spring Party - March 10 at The Barn

We are happy to announce that not one but two old favorites are returning to this SOS party. We will host the St. Patty's Sails into Spring Party at the Barn…..after many successful parties there it’s time to repeat the fun. And our own Ron Pence and his friends “The Last Call Band” will preform. The band has been performing since 1978- the year SOS was created- and this will be our eleventh performance for SOS members, including DNR parties, After Parade of Lights parties, and Seafood Feast parties.

DNR Party - May 19 - 20 DNR Lodge Wye Island

Our first cruise and party of the sailing season. Members sail or drive in for a weekend of food, fun, music and dancing.

Anniversary Party - June 23 - 24 Lankford Marina, Chester River

Celebrate the club's founding. Each year a different theme is selected with appropriate decorations, food, entertainment and a DJ provides music for dancing.

Seafood Feast - August 4 -5 Sailing Emporium, Rockhall, MD

This is the largest SOS social/sailing event of the year. Members sail or drive in to enjoy all-you-can-eat seafood and dancing on a hot summer's night.

SOS also offers an active social program during the non-sailing season.

Events include:

Brunches - Monthly November - March

Sunday morning brunches are held in the Annapolis area. A speaker on a sailing-related topic highlights each brunch.

Holiday Party - Held in November & December to celebrate the season.

This party often coincides with the parade of lighted boats and includes holiday food.

Awards Dinner - This event is held in December to thank members who have contributed to the club's success during the past year. This event also recognizes and remembers the foils and foibles that occurred on the Bay during the previous sailing season. Dancing and festivities continue throughout the evening to the music of a live local band.
