Membership Database and Website Committee
The Database / Website Committee is responsible for the maintaining and updating the information contained in the membership database and for keeping the SOS website updated with current information regarding SOS events, club news and other information needed.
Here are some ways to contribute:
Email Responder: Check [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] on a daily basis and respond appropriately. This takes a few hours each week.
Event Calendar: Every month the Event Calendar is updated with details regarding upcoming SOS activities that are compiled by the Fleet Exercises & Shore Leave editor. To maintain the Event Calendar would require 1 to 2 hours each week.
Registration Forms: Registration forms are built for sailing, social, and education functions. Cruising registrations are built as soon as the Cruising Calendar comes out in early March. It takes a week or so to get all those forms built so a link can be put on the Event Calendar.
Every month as new events are added to the Event Calendar, a registration form needs to be created using the information compiled by the Fleet Exercises & Shore Leave editor. Creating registration forms would require 1 to 2 hours a week depending on the number of planned events.
Web Site Content: Each month minor updates are made to the content of the SOS website. The content is primary drawn from the Whisker Pole newsletter. Documents also need to be uploaded and linked. Updating the website’s content and maintaining the document archive would require approximately an hour a month.
Email Blasts: Blasts are emails messages to the membership containing reminders about upcoming events or news that is supplemental to the monthly Whisker Pole newsletter. Creating email blasts would require an hour a week.
Note: None of the above require anything more than a rudimentary understanding of word processing or dealing with digital data.
