Social Activities

During sailing season, several parties are held at yacht clubs or marinas on the Chesapeake Bay. Members elect to sail in and enjoy the facilities of the club or marina, or they may choose to arrive by car. Check the Event Calendar for specific times and registration links.

The major sailing season parties include:

April: DNR Cruise & Party - DNR Duck Lodge Wye Island

Our first cruise and party of the sailing season. Members sail or drive in for a weekend food, fun, music and dancing.

June or July: Anniversary Cruise & Party

Celebrate the club's founding. Each year a different theme is selected with appropriate decorations, food, entertainment and a DJ provides music for dancing.

August: Seafood Feast Cruise & Party

This is the largest SOS social sailing event of the year. Members sail or drive in to enjoy eating seafood, sailing, sunsets, socializing and dancing on a beautiful August weekend.

September: Oktoberfest Happy Hour

Join the boats at Castle Marina for an Oktoberfest beer, German wines, and original Bavarian Brotzeit Schmankerl.

October: Chili Cook-Off Cruise & Shore Party

Each vessel brings a pot of chili and the people driving in supply side dishes. This is a fan favorite event with a bonfire, music, and trivia.

October: Halloween Cruise & Shore Party

Come enjoy some tasty treats and dancing. Will you win Best Costume for this year's theme? 

November: OysterFest Cruise at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Join the crew in St. Michael's to celebrate the Bay's favorite bivalve. It is the best party in town.

November: Regional Pre-Thanksgiving Dinners

December: Regional Pre-Thanksgiving Dinners

December: Christmas Day Dinner at a private home in the Annapolis area.

• Happy Hours: Held monthly at various locations in the Delmarva.
• Brunches - Monthly November - March: Sunday morning brunches are held in the Annapolis area. A speaker on a sailing-related topic highlights each brunch.
• Fireside Chats - Assorted homes in the Delmarva
